It's a fantastic city beside the food. I have always been interested in Chinese history especially so on the Qing's dynasty. Nanjing is the capital during the reign of the first Emperor- Zhu Yuan Zhang of the Ming's Dynasty and also during the reign of Kuo Ming Tan, before China became a Communist Country.
.
.
The city of Nanjing. As it once was the capital of China and lived an Emperor, hence there are some protective measures like the moat (the blue thingy on the map) and city wall(the grey thingy beside the blue thingy). By the way the yellow rectangular thingy on the may is the Palace but it has been burned down during WW2. The city wall that surrounds the city is 35km just 7 km lesser the the perimeter of Singapore.
.
.
Emperor Zhu Yuan Zhang wanted to ensure the quality of the city wall that surrounds the city, hence he made everybody who made the brick stamped his own name on the brick. If it doesn't pass the quality test, he will have their family behaded (zhu jiu zu-behead 9 generations). These are the samples.
.
.
There holes (Chang bin dong- Hide soldiers' hole) are found thruout the city wall's gate. They were suppose to hold soldiers. If enemies who attacks the city they will be tray in between the city wall's gate as there are like 3 doors. once they enter the first gate, the defender soldiers of Nanjing will shut the gates and the soldier will then come out of their hiding place and wah-la, enemies killed.

A small history about Dr. Sun Yat-Sen
A small history about Dr. Sun Yat-Sen
.
Dr. Sun was born in Guangdong province of China on November 12th, 1866, and died in 1925 in Beijing, China. On April 23rd, 1929, the Chinese government appointed He Yingqin to be in charge of laying Dr. Sun to rest. On May 26th, the coffin departed from Beijing, and on May 28th, it arrived in Nanjing. On June 1, 1929, Dr. Sun was buried there. Sun, considered to be the "Father of Modern China" both in mainland China and in Taiwan, fought against the imperial Qing government and after the 1911 revolution ended the monarchy and founded the Republic of China. Something amazing, The steps leading up to his resting place actually has 392 stairs which is divided into 8 parts. The stairs are not continuous, its like stairs followed by platform x8. The amazing part is that from the bottom of the stairs u cant see the flat surface. So you can only see continuous stairs. It is to create an illusion that you will reach the Mausoleum in no time.

And from the top, you can only see the flat surface of the stairs. It is to create an illusion that you will not have wobbly legs when you go down. Brilliant isn't it.

By the way, Dr Sun chose Nanjing as his resting place, even though he was born in Guangdong and passed away in Beijing, was because during his reign the capital was in Nanjing and he found that his Mausoleum has got great Feng Shui. Hence the decision.

Than, we went to the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall. Its a newly renovated building. Its free of charge, because till now Japan do not admit this part of history so China wants the whole world to know.
